Privacy Policy

This policy describes the information collected when someone visits Elko County Criminal History, the purposes for which it is used, and the limited circumstances in which another service may receive it. Continued use of the website signifies acceptance of these practices.

Data You Give Us Directly

Search Queries

A name or location entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside company operating that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its results. We do not keep a separate log of those search terms.

Messages and Contact Submissions

An email may be retained for the time needed to respond and maintain the exchange. It remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.

Data We Gather Automatically

Page requests automatically provide ordinary technical and usage details to the server:

  • Page-view dates, times, duration, and navigation
  • Device category and operating system
  • Browser name and version
  • Internet Protocol address
  • The referring website, when supplied

Cookies and Analytics

Cookies are small files placed on a device. Along with analytics services, they help produce aggregate measures such as traffic by page and where visits end. A browser can block cookies, although doing so may alter how some website features behave.

What We Do With This Data

  • Detecting faults and resolving technical problems
  • Operating, securing, and improving site performance
  • Routing a submitted query to the selected search provider
  • Measuring which pages visitors use
  • Displaying advertising, including interest-based advertising

No Criminal-Record Data on File

We do not build, maintain, or sell a database of personal criminal records. Elko County guidance identifies public custodians such as Sheriff Records, the criminal courts, the Central Repository for Nevada Records of Criminal History, and the Nevada Sex Offender Registry. Visitor information is not compiled into third-party criminal profiles or consumer reports, and this website is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

Third-Party Search Partners

Outside companies operate the search boxes. A provider's own privacy policy governs information entered in its tool, including retention and disclosure practices beyond our control. Review that policy before submitting a query.

Links to Other Websites

Links may lead to courts, the Sheriff, Nevada agencies, legal resources, or outside search tools. Once a visitor leaves this website, the destination's policy controls. Check it before disclosing personal information.

Advertising companies may use their own systems to measure activity across websites and select targeted ads.

Who Might See Your Data

Personal data is not sold. Limited information may be available to:

  • Analytics vendors measuring performance and traffic
  • Search providers processing a query submitted to their tool
  • Advertising networks serving page advertisements
  • A government or law-enforcement body acting under valid legal process

How We Protect Your Data

Reasonable security practices are used to protect collected information. No internet-connected system can guarantee complete security, so we cannot promise that unauthorized access will never occur.

Users Under 18

The website is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. Information known to have been submitted by a minor will be removed.

Your Data Rights

Rights can vary with a visitor's location. Nevada's Public Records Act, NRS Chapter 239, governs records held by public agencies and does not turn this private website's logs into Elko County records. NRS Chapter 179A separately controls defined criminal-history information and its dissemination. Subject to applicable law, a visitor may:

  • Request access to personal information held about that visitor
  • Ask that inaccurate personal information be corrected
  • Request deletion when the law permits it
  • Object to or opt out of qualifying processing
